Yes, I did have prior development experience. My team and I have worked on other apps like Simply Auto and SPACE before we started Simply Fleet. I, personally had 9 years of Android development experience before starting on Simply Fleet.
The most challenging aspect for me was and still is getting traction. Due to the fleet management space being crowded, we have to figure out a way to make sure our app stands out and is being downloaded. We are trying various marketing tactics to reach out to the right audience. We know we have a great product, we only need to now make sure that we find the audience that can benefit from Simply Fleet.

I love playing quick games, so you will regularly find me playing WordChums and 2-Player Games The Challenge (my daughter loves to play this with me). Currently, I am also hooked on an app called AntiChess, this is like chess but in reverse, the first to lose wins! I use a lot of apps for my work too. The most used ones here are Stripe, Google Analytics, and the Play Console app.
We started development in 2019, so about 2.5 years. The app had a soft launch in June 2020 and a proper launch in Jan 2021.
We've seen a lot of small and medium businesses that lack the tools to manage their fleet. We had first-hand experience with our consumer app Simply Auto, wherein we would get a lot of requests from these fleet owners to tweak the app for SMEs. There are a ton of Fleet Management apps, but all of them cater to large industries and amount to the north of $500/month. We wanted to create an app specifically for small and medium businesses with a pocket-friendly price tag. Hence we've launched the app as free to use and our subscription for premium starts at $9.99/month.
The main highlight of our app lies in its simplicity. Users can get up and running on day one itself, which is very unlike any other fleet management app in the market. Most other apps have a big learning curve and require demos to understand. Since other apps cater to larger enterprises not only is their cost a lot higher but they are also a lot more complex to use. Besides that, our apps are made in native Android and native iOS languages, so the experience is a lot better than other hybrid apps.
We are always open to customer feedback. I have always believed that an app needs to constantly evolve. Currently, we are getting a lot of feedback from users to factor in the management of machines whose efficiency is measured in hours and not kilometers. So, we are working on that. We are also working on improving reporting features within the app.
