Yes, I’ve made several apps before. That includes previous app for my company but also the enterprise apps that I have made for the company I was working in.
This app is used by various groups (general education, business, sports, reading with various disabilities – ADHD, dyslexia, blind, limited vision....). Frequently they come with conflicting requests. Making the app that works well for all of them is hard and it involves a lot of skills and experience, but it is always possible and finding the solutions is very rewarding.
The interviewee, Ivan Ičin, is the developer of Voice Reader Speech Central. Ivan is a seasoned developer with his two apps 'Share to Speech' and 'File Cards' are among the top-100 paid apps in the Windows Store US.
I use OneDrive for scanning documents and accessing them across devices. For navigation I use Google Maps and Here WeGo. I use some apps for local services (e.g. banking) that are very relevant locally but not relevant to most users. I do also use various built-in apps like browsers, mail clients, weather etc. It is nice to have all those apps on the go.
The app is in development since 2014.
I have started with my needs in mind (listening to online articles while driving or running), but over the time I came to understand the need of various people and while I still use the app for this purpose I would say that the app is as much or even more about book reading now.
Speech Central is designed to be a very flexible app. It features a simple uncluttered design that is attractive and accessible to most people. Yet beneath it has more features than any other app. It is highly customizable so everyone can find his personal configuration that helps him the most.
The new features are being added regularly for years and it will be like that in the future. The plans are never disclosed unless it is about bug fixes where I always try to be transparent and give them the highest possible priority.
The app is priced fairly low for unlimited use comparing to some other subscription based apps. In large part this is because those apps invest large percentage of their revenues into commercials to find the new subscribers. So users are paying mostly for that. As they do not pay for that at all in my app it would be nice if they could spread the word about it.
About App:
Feature set that exceeds the competition, no subscription for the premium tier with the free tier limited by the quantity not by the quality, that is the reason why you'll love Speech Central.
Many thanks to the Google Play team for featuring Speech Central in over 65 countries thus far!
