Lettuce – track your investments - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

Our team has been working in Fin-tech for years and has a lot of combined coding and software architecture experience. I personally have worked predominantly with front-end code in my personal capacity, so I leave coding on Lettuce to the experts in our team!

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

Lettuce combines data from a variety of asset classes including stocks, mutual funds, currencies, and cryptocurrencies, in a way that hasn't been done before. Because this was a new challenge we had to solve ourselves, it required a lot of first-principles thinking in how we gather, store, and related financial data.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

I love Curve, Luno, and 22seven because they are other fintech apps I designed and worked on, and am very proud of. I also love Discord as I am an avid gamer and it solves communications in all other areas of my life too.

How long have you been working on this app?

Lettuce is two years old.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

We see more and more people taking control of their financial lives and investment portfolios, but without a single source of truth unless they use complicated spreadsheets. We built Lettuce as a simple but powerful way to track your investments, and in the future, we plan to go far beyond that too.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

We don't know of any similar apps on the market. There are some that track just crypto, and others that track just stocks, or they only track things in one country. Lettuce is the only app that tracks anything from anywhere, whether it's Bitcoin on your phone, Tesla stocks on the NASDAQ, Naira in your Nigerian bank account, listed companies on the NSE in India, or mutual funds in South Africa. You name it, Lettuce either tracks it or plans to track it soon.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

We are constantly looking for better ways to help you make sense of your financial world, and plan to provide better visualizations of your portfolio breakdown. We let our customers tell us what they want, and then we build it. Right now they are asking for graphic breakdowns of their portfolios, so we are working on doing so as soon as we can.
