Yes. Bruno and I have bachelor's degrees in computer science. We develop games since 2010ish. We launched the first version of Kakele Online back in 2010 (known as Kakele 1) and that stayed online for around a year.
Kakele is an MMORPG. This means we have the app, which is the game client, and we also have the game server application. Also, given the genre, we need to update the game constantly to keep players interested. Therefore, a big challenge is to make sure everything we build is easily maintainable and extensible to accommodate future updates. Finally, Kakele is multiplatform: it runs on Android, iOS, and PC. Designing a game that can be played in all these with similar gameplay experiences is also a challenge. Yet, the moderation of an online game is also a hard task. A big shout out to our community managers!
Kakele is inspired by other classic games. I will mention two: Tibia and Zelda (SNES version). These were part of our childhood and will forever have a place in our hearts :)
We started Q3 2019 and launched our first version, Kakele 2.0, in February 2020.
Kakele is a 2D MMORPG and our public is very niched. We try to develop the game to attract people from outside this bubble. That is, we invest a lot of time in the game tutorial and polish game mechanics to make them simpler for newcomers.
In Kakele, we try to focus on the RPG aspect of the MMORPG. We create quests with stories, write lores, and more. Every creature inside the game exists for a reason, has a background and a living purpose.
We are currently focusing on shifting the game from free-to-play to play-to-earn. We will launch soon a sustainable model (don't expect to get rich by playing the game!) where you can play the game, earn gold, and exchange it for cryptocurrencies.
