FetL - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

Yes, I have worked in a famous IT company for 7 years. I can write codes :)

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

The most challenging aspect is how to keep it attractive to our members. Everyone has a different taste. We wish most of our members would love it, not just like it. Another one is how to promote it so potential customers can know us, find our difference and join us. There are tons of dating apps on the Internet.

Iris was born in HK and studied at a university in the US. She worked in the US for about 10 years. Then she went back to HK to start a company to create the dating app FetL. Her teammates are her friends she met in the US.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

Tinder, it is very easy to navigate. But as a Fetish lover, I could hardly find like-minded partners there. Also there are still many fake profiles like any other dating apps. Kinkd app, the first kink dating app I installed. I met many good friends there. However it has no audio chat. People are lazy to type words and we sometimes love a person because of their voice. That's why I added this feature for FetL.

How long have you been working on this app?

I prepared and developed it for about 4 months. Before developing it, I asked some friends around if I set up a dating app for fetish/kinky lovers, would they join. They showed interest and thought I could make it great. It has been online for 3 months so far. We are still working on some unique features.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

As a kinky lover myself, I know what my customers want, such as Love, Cool, Unique, Private, Safe, Fun, Simple, Fetish knowledge, Open-minded, happy...

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

#1 - We review each profile carefully and manually to kick out scammers, fake profiles, and gold diggers. Unlike other big general dating apps, we want like-minded members only. #2 - We have audio chat. Sometimes you love a person just for their voice. It saves much time on typing as well. #3 - It's 100% free to search and chat now. We want to create a platform for people to find happiness and love so we do not think we should charge members with high membership just to earn money. #4 - Members can browse nearby people anywhere. It is fast and effective to find a date.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

We will launch Android version so members with android phone can enjoy it. We are still working on some unique features now. Of course promoting our app is on our plan lists.

We wish they download the app, tell us their likes and dislikes on the app. Then we can keep improving it. If they liked it, we wish they could share with their friends.
