2048 - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

When I was growing up, computers were not so common as today. They were very expensive and we couldn't afford one. It was a like mysterious box for me that is full of joy, information and excitement. So, this great curiosity in my childhood led me to become a software engineer over time (B.S, M.S and P.H.D). I can say that I have been coding since college and have been developing apps for 5 years.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

The most tricky part was trying to stay simple and at the same time providing different game options to the player for the best user experience. I tried to keep menus and graphics as simple as possible since the puzzle itself was already a great brain work-out. At the same time, I tried to provide different grid levels for users that have already mastered small grids. At the end, the game became enjoyable for everybody!

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

Voice Changer (Androbaby), it was one of my first works and it is an app that entertains people in all ages by giving funny effects to their voices. The Friendly Farm (KidsAppBox), It is our latest work and it is a unique educative app with adorable graphics that combines puzzles with story telling.

How long have you been working on this app?

It took 3 months for me to publish the 2048 in its final version.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

People liked the classic version of the game, but also was looking for something new. So, rather than creating something totally new, I wanted to create different challenges for them while keeping the classic version they loved.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

Of course, there are lots of similar apps with good graphics and similar logic. But, our version of 2048 has both intensity and simplicity at the same time for the user, thus it has become a classic game like Tetris that every user should have experience. It got thousands of good reviews and responses from users and selected as Editors Choice in Google Play Market.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

In the new versions, we are planning to add different grids for more challenge and fun. We also listen our users and shape our updates with their responses.
