WorkDo – All-in-One Smart Work App - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

Established in 2016, BuddyDo Inc. is a relatively new startup company. Our team is comprised of engineers with diverse technical software development knowledge. Our goal is to provide the best all-in-one team collaboration solution on the market and WorkDo is our first project.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

The tool integration is the most challenging aspect of the development process. Because we pride ourselves on providing the all-in-one team collaboration app, WorkDo offers a wide range of tools to streamline the company workflow all with one app. And by this logic, many tools and features are interconnected, so many functions are not as straightforward as one may imagine, thus, complicating the software development process.
Marketing wise, the team collaboration software market is already saturated with an abundant amount of apps. So to correctly identify the areas where most companies are struggling with proves to be quite challenging, too. One misjudgment could mean the life and death of an app in this rapidly changing market.

WorkDo is a product of BuddyDo Inc. The company aspires to help manage non-profit communities in a way as easy as possible.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

Slack is by far the favorite app on our team because it’s visually appealing, intuitive to use and
the integration of tools and APIs naturally caters to the developer community. But we also
realize that communication is just one aspect of team collaboration, so we wanted to develop
WorkDo that ties communication with task assignment, project management, and team
management into one consolidated solution.

How long have you been working on this app?

WorkDo has been in development for 3 years.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

We designed WorkDo to be an all-in-one platform to alleviate the headache many small to medium-sized enterprises have when using tools that do not integrate. WorkDo offers a wide range of tools that help teams communicate, collaborate, and operate to improve the overall efficiency while keeping team members focused on the tasks at hand, and not being distracted by switching apps and tools.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

We found that in this day of age, our attention span is getting shorter and we are easily distracted. If your team’s daily workflow requires them to keep switch tools to communicate and collaborate, that is valuable time and effort lost.
WorkDo manages to bring different aspects of workplace communication and collaboration into one app while offering team members with different roles and authorities, which in term accurately reflects your organizational structure and how it operates is unprecedented. We spent a lot of time on the drawing board, and we are proud of what we managed to achieve with WorkDo!

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

We are in the final phases of rolling out a new feature that will help the company administrators quickly calculating the employee paychecks with just a few clicks of the fingers. We want to save company administrators’ time on this repetitive and mundane task and have put a lot of time in researching and developing this feature, and we hope our users will put it to good use!

-Different subsidiaries can have individual workplaces while teammates that work with other subsidiaries can easily switch to different workplaces and communicate efficiently.
-Create groups and add buddies to have small-group collaborations or one-on-one meetings with your teammates.
-Dashboard function allows you to see all the tasks, events, and polls related to you and all the posts and moments from your groups and buddies.
-Information such as read, task completion, and event attendance list help you to easily know the status of any item such as note, task, and event.

Task: Assign, track, and comment on any task to keep projects on schedule and do more with less effort.
Event: Company-wide event can be planned easily with an attendance list to accurately control the budget and activity.
Note: Add a post to share interesting information or important announcements to the entire company or just within your group and between you and your buddies.
Album: Capture work moments on photos and upload to share to the entire company or just within your groups and between you and your buddies.
Poll: Take into account of everyone’s opinion on project directions and idea implementations.
Files: Upload files to share resources and information.
Leave: Apply for leave is easy while managers can coordinate resources better and in advance.
Human Resource (HR): Manage employee information and helps HR staff to reach employees easily during emergencies.
Conf. Rm.: Book and manage conference room schedules
Expense: Apply and keep track of expenses easily.
Customer Relations (CRM): Manage your accounts and stay on track of your business.
Attendance: Clock in/out to track work hours with post clock in/out and appeal available. Reports are also available.
Approvals: A general tool for everything that requires multiple personnel approvals.
