Time Tracking App TimeCamp - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

Sure! The entire idea behind TimeCamp was our CEO’s assignment to pass the C++ class at university. Its first use was a note-taking app, then Kamil decided to turn it into a full-time tracking suite.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

To make sure it will meet the customers’ expectations. We spent many valuable hours researching the market, reading about the pain points of our potential users. We often asked ourselves: is our app really what they’re looking for, the app that has something the others lack? Finally, we succeed, and both customers and app marketplaces appreciate our efforts and recognize us as one of the best time tracking alternatives.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

Daily, I useHeySpace collaboration. It streamlines the communication between team members, combining a chat we know from Slack and Kanban-based boards, just like in Trello. I also appreciate Grammarly, as I’m not a native English speaker; it helps me keep the content I write polished. One of my favorite after-hours activities is drawing; the tool I use is Procreate - if you’re a non-professional like me, give it a try!

How long have you been working on this app?

As I mentioned before, the first idea was our CEO’s class assignment, so it took a particularly short time to finish it. Then, the development and the change of the designated use has been extended for several years. And we don’t stop improving it!

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

To take control over the time spend on various work-related activities. We often don’t realize how many precious hours we waste because we don’t know how long it takes to finish the project. Based on these precious data, we can deliver the results in the shortest amount of time and estimate how many hours we need to allocate for further works.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

TimeCamp stands out from the competitors’ thanks to its comprehensive-time organization. It offers unlimited projects and tasks for unlimited users in all the pricing plans. What does it mean for the users? They can create an organized tree-based project structure and track time in a more detailed way. Then, they can generate rich-data reports and analyze how the entire team performs. Last but not least, if they combine these results with billing rates, they can be sure both employees and clients are billed accurately.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

Our goal is to make TimeCamp even more user-friendly. Not everyone who starts their journey with time tracking knows how to squeeze the most of the tool is offering; we’d like to let the users personalize their TimeCamp based on what they expect on how it should benefit their business.
