Swirl - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

Yeah, 8 years in various programming languages including Python, Java, C, Swift and many more.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

Device support, it's one thing to build your app responsive to fit various screen sizes but when you find that some phones cannot login it becomes a challenge trying to figure out why. In my case it was a problem complying with Samsung's domain whitelisting.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

Bucket - Clean and easy to use app for managing your financial goals. Sleep - Has everything needed for trying to get you a better rest, such as smart alarms to wake up feeling your best and sleep reminders to let you know when you should be going to bed.

How long have you been working on this app?

2 Months, mainly due to design changes during development.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

Singles looking for a potential partner of specific ethnic backgrounds.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

Swirl is essentially like Tinder but has a few things to differentiate it. Swirl focuses on allowing you to filter your potential match based on gender, age and ethnicity. The swiping mechanism is also different, up and down swipes allow for a more natural interaction with the app.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

Finding people who are local to you. Currently Swirl only allows you to swipe through people globally, once there are more users you will be able to find a potential match next to you.
