Nothing was particularly challenging.
I'm a passionate mobile apps developer with over 8 years of experience in that domain. For past 2 years I've been developing my applications in Flutter which will conquer the market in coming years.
Revolut - Simplicity and design
Missing push notifications from some channels on YouTube. User does not have any control over the subscriptions and content that he/she is watching. YouTube algorithm decides what to show to a user in order to maximise watch time.
There's no similar app on the market. The innovation here is that a third-party application that is not biased in any way shows content that the user deliberately chose to subscribe to. Subbly platform makes YouTube only host the videos and takes away the bias of 'the algorithm' and monetization factor. The thing I'm really proud of is that the whole solution is anonymous: no personal data such as email, name, or nickname is stored in the database. Also, the platform is constantly running for over 2 months with no downtime and any issues being reported.
The general idea behind Subbly does not end on YouTube. There are plenty of platforms that tend to hide or promote content from users. We are becoming passive regarding things that we watch or read with no choice. Depending on funding (or lack of it), I'd like to include other platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Vimeo.
I'd be very grateful if the users could express their opinion regarding the general idea behind the application and whether they also have problems with missing notifications and hidden content from their favorite channels.
Subbly aims to give viewers full control over the content they are watching and get notified about. On the other hand, Subbly also helps content creators as they don't need to tailor their videos to fit 'the algorithm'. YouTube became the central point of video hosting and monopolized the market. Due to the progressing changes in 'the algorithm' more and more content creators and viewers complain that they are not receiving push notifications about new videos and some of them are 'hidden' from the majority of the subscribers.
