Yes but not in mobile native applications. I was a Microsoft software developer for desktop applications. I started from scratch with Java for Android, it was one of my personal challenges.
Probably the most challenging aspect of my application was to keep it as secure and simple as possible.
The interviewee, Mr. Silvio Pola, is the owner of SPLTEK, the parent company of the SafeBox app. Although he works full-time as a software developer in a company that deals with entertainment, his company SPLTEK is a small challenge to figure out what it means to develop, launch and support products in the mobile world through online stores. Silvio is very passionate about all things technology; devices, software, and especially mobile applications. He is really convinced that every day all the technology is looking for ways to become more 'mobile'.
Excluding the most famous:
Audible: Because with this app I re-started reading (listening) many books again.
Hello Talk: Really useful for learning/improving new languages with the help of a great community.
MEGA: 50 gigs of free space is really useful.
Shazam: When I accidentally hear a good song I don't know... I need to “shazam” it immediately!
I think almost a year but not every day and for a few hours in my spare time. Starting from scratch I needed a lot of time to learn.
I first developed this application for myself, my need was to collect all my private data in a secure and disconnected from any cloud or remote services application to be sure that my personal data was not accessible in any way by anyone. Once the app was finished I thought maybe this need wasn't just mine so I put it up for sale on the Google Play Store.
I love my app because it is very easy to use and because private data is stored encrypted only on your personal device. You can also create backups and upload them to Google Drive, but they are encrypted with your personal password. Only your password in SafeBox can unlock the storage to load the data in the application.
I think it should be useful to add some features like the ability to import/export data in csv file type or some other little improvements but I want to leave it simple.
If you like my app, please share it and if you have time rate and review it.
Feel free to contact me for any doubt or support request.
Thank you.
