Proudwheels - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

Yes, we developed multiple apps before and have more than 25 years of experience in community building.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

The hardest part was to define the Minimal Viable Product (MVP) since we have lots of ideas on how to expand this app for the good, it’s difficult to break down the app to an MVP without losing the distinctiveness.

Proudwheels is a community for petrolheads built by a team with 25+ years of experience in the field. Based in the Netherlands and expanding rapidly (with your help!) to make it the 'home of all petrolheads'.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

Instagram: Because of the clean look and focus on content and Facebook because of the functionality within one application (groups, events, etc)

How long have you been working on this app?

2 years in discovery phase and development. As per March 2022 we’re a few months live.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

To have a niche platform where it’s all about cars and nothing else. On top of that the ability to create a page, especially for your car where fans can follow your project.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

We believe that there’s more to cars than most people think. For some people it’s a getaway to forget everything else, for others it’s a life goal where they work for. It’s a community where you can rely on. In order to have this target audience on your platform, you need to be aware of the approach and the technical needs. We know what they need. Everyone can build an app but we know petrolheads because our whole team is petrolheads.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

Keep in mind that we’re live for a couple of months and we’re still looking at the core functionality of the app. So regarding the expected features, we can tell that we’re building a Chat, Notification center, and a car-based search to find other/similar cars on Proudwheels. Of course, the list of cool features is long, but we’ll take it step by step. These steps are defined by the petrolheads themselves. We have a direct communication channel where they can share ideas.

In contrast to the other platforms (FB, IG, YT, TT) we actually communicate with our members - directly. Yes, in the future will be a huge customer service department, but we would like to have the REAL CONNECTION.
