Promoty – influencer app - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

Yes. I built the first version of Promoty on his own – but I had nearly 10 years of experience by then. Prior to that, we had been building a cybersecurity startup together with Aleks Koha, another co-founder of Promoty.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

Building an influencer marketplace seems like an easy task – but apparently, it's not. Managing the integrations with different platforms and running automated social media content tracking has been quite challenging, especially as the APIs have been changing.

The interviewee, Leonardo Romanello, is the CTO at Promoty Marketing. Promoty Marketing OU is a company that provides an all-in-one influencer marketing tool for brands. The company was founded in 2017 in Estonia and has since expanded to other markets such as Latvia and Finland. Promoty Marketing OU helps brands find and collaborate with influencers who resonate with their target audience. Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

My favorite apps are Revolut and Google Maps. I love Revolut because it has the right tools for easy personal finance management, especially with friends and family. I love Google Maps because it gives me the ability to preview any place on earth and save and organise locations I want to visit.

How long have you been working on this app?

We launched the first version of Promoty in November 2017. The mobile app was launched in 2019.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

Essentially, we wanted to establish meaningful collaborations between brands and influencers. For social media creators, it's an amazing way to spread the word about the brands they love and earn money doing what they love the most: content creation.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

Our mobile app is available only in Finland and the Baltics – which means that we can specifically engage marketers who want to run campaigns in those markets and thus, provide relevant campaigns to local influencers.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

Currently, we are focused on our desktop tools: global influencer discovery with 250 million profiles, detailed influencer reports, and an influencer relationship management system.
