mu Barometer - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

Yes.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

To support background tasks on Android.

I started to create programs at school. After graduating I worked 11 years as a teacher at university, teaching various IT-related subjects. Now I am a full-time mobile developer.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

Card Crawler - A cool game for relaxing.
Dungeon of Slyn - The best roguelike for Android.

How long have you been working on this app?

Several years.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

I wanted to create a small and useful barometer app with a lot of functions but as small size as possible.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

It provides a lot of functions:

- Measurement of the air pressure
- Plots (detailed and small) of pressure values
- Notifications and alerts about pressure changes
- Themes
- Just a small ad banner

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

- Support GPS to calculate locations and altitudes
- support Internet to work even on devices without built
-in air pressure sensor

Assuming new users of your app are reading this page. What do you want to ask them to do (contact you about X, Share the app, etc.)?

1. Contact me about new features; 2. Add a good mark to app on the Google play.

mu Barometer

About App:

A simple barometer for monitoring atmospheric pressure. The goal of μBarometer is to be useful, small and elegant.

Features:
- Pressure units: mBar, mmHg, inHg, atm
- Altitude units: meters, feet
- Pressure Graph - Altitude Indicator
- App widget with three themes
- Pressure value in the status bar

The pressure graph shows the change in pressure in 48 hours.
To collect data μBarometer runs a small service which saves the pressure value every hour.

The altitude value are based on the current pressure value.
For quick switching between pressure/altitude indicators just tap on the indicator icon.
You can measure the relative altitude. Just tap on the altitude indicator and it will show the relative altitude from the current point.
