Hippo – Contact Notes - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

Yes, I've been a developer for quite some time, this is my first iPhone app however.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

I've worked quite long on adding subscriptions and iPad support, so that delayed the launch. Also, it was hard to decide that the app was finished and I could launch the it.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

I love Things, it's perfect for my way of working. I also love Notion, it makes it easy to keep track of lots of different stuff.

How long have you been working on this app?

6 months.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

The need to be attentive and thoughtful. Which I think we all have but if you're forgetful (like me) it can be quite a challange.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

I've designed Hippo with privacy in mind and that is something that similar apps didn't do. So Hippo doesn't require an account or access to your contacts. And all data stays on your device.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

I'm planning to add Calendar import quite soon (I'm working on it now). After that I want to add iCloud sync and a Mac app.

Try the app, add a couple of people you care for and make some notes the next time you speak to them. You'll see it will be a lot easier to remember the next time you meet them!
