Yes, our team has been working on many projects over the years. We’ve been involved in anything from game development, social platforms to banking applications and digital tools. I think what makes our team special is that most of our team are also scuba divers, which really helps focusing our development skill into making divers-oriented app.
The hardest thing we had to do was to understand what our app was. Scuba divers have many different needs. We really wanted to be able to give our users the peace of mind & comfort you usually get when picking a restaurant or booking a flight these days. We’ve had a lot of ideas and eventually we’ve managed to get them in the right direction.
Personally I really like the 'Netflix' app, its guys did an amazing job keeping you engaged and binge-watch without thinking about it too much. I also like 'Yelp', they made it so easy to use and it just works - especially when looking for something new. We actually got inspired by how these apps approach their users when creating 'GoDive'.
We’ve always wanted to make it. Being scuba divers ourselves, we knew the community needs it. Active development started last year, we’ve had a lot of trials and errors, getting things just right.
Simply put - convenience. There’s nothing more annoying to a diver, especially for someone who only dives a few times a year, than to mess around with charts, paperwork, and having to figure out where to go on your upcoming trip (and whether or not it is safe to dive after getting out of another session). We let our users, as the name suggests 'GoDive' and we take care of the rest.
With 'GoDive' we try to make things as simple as possible for the user - they can find the right place at the right time to go to, and never risk decompression while doing so. The app really gives the diver all the tools needed to dive without the need for anything else. We are particularly proud of our places/site index. We have many dive centers and diving sites listed. If we can get someone to grab diving gear and dive while on their next vacation, without planning on doing so beforehand - we’ve reached our goal.
We have quite a lot going on. Our nearest release will let our users write their own stories/share their knowledge and experiences with the rest of the community. We also have an iOS and web versions scheduled to be released during next year. Our to-do list never seems to run dry: An online archive for all your certifications and documents, friends and dive-buddy searching, and an online logbook stamping by your diving instructor.
We invite our users to share as much as they can and add their own content, we try to bring the community together, 'GoDive' is yours as much as it is ours. The more our users will contribute the better the experience and support will be for everyone. And of course, dive safe!
