DogLog – Track your Pet’s Life - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

One of our team members was studying computer science at the university and has taken a few coding courses besides. What helped us was that other initial team members had other skill sets that were very helpful like product management and business development. The synergies between the three of us made it possible.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

Knowing we are solving real problems pet owners have. We met as many dog owners and heard of their challenges. We prioritized what we heard. It became clear the pet parents' activity coordination is the biggest challenge they have so nothing falls in between the cracks. It was clear very fast we were also serving as the voice of the pet.

The interviewee, Mr. Gideon Marks, is Lynn Marks's father and one of the co-founders of DogLog. DogLog is a pet-care app that helps pet parents organize their pets’ lives. With the app, owners can track and coordinate their pets' activities and health, create reminders, analyze behavior and trends, and more.
Puppy owners love that they can track growth, training, and vaccinations with DogLog. People with aging/sick dogs really value tracking their pet’s symptoms and treatments so that they can best care for their pet.
DogLog was founded by a female founder, Lynn Marks, her dad, Gideon Marks, and her brother Ron Marks, who started DogLog as a family to bring a digital transformation for pet ownership.

How long have you been working on this app?

Three years. The way we work is we stay in touch with our users (70,000) and get feedback on what features they need. We reach out proactively to our users and respond to every question and review we get.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

• Reduce all collaboration challenges between dog parents
• Improve communication with pet service providers
• Provide alerts about atypical behavior and health changes

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

Our approach from the start was to enhance dogs' wellness and make their parents' lives easier.

DogLog provides trend analysis based on real data and shows customized reminders.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

Our vision for DogLog is to become the focal point for pets parents to manage their pet's life, health and communication center. Imagine a platform that keeps all relevant data about your dogs and other pets and uses it for the benefits of the pet.
