Business Card Scanner by Covve - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

Hmm, personally I only wrote a few lines of code when I was in University! Thankfully, I stayed on the commercial side of things and our super team of developers took on the coding. It’s the very experienced and capable team that’s also behind our Covve – contact management app.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

Holding back from adding all features that we could add, in order to keep the experience as simple as it gets!

Christis Charalambous is the head of Commercial Activities and Customer Success at Covve. He studied Information Systems at the University of Miami, and Operational Research at the London School of Economics. With 15+ years of experience in various Marketing and Business Development roles, he is heading commercial activities in Covve.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

Covve of course ?; it packs everything I need to manage my contacts and relationships! Other than that, I am a big fan of apps that are simple and do things well. Spotify, Waze, and Evernote, in my opinion, are good examples. They fill a specific need and I happily use them every day!

How long have you been working on this app?

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

To quickly and accurately digitize business cards. So, we met this need by providing the best card scanning technology, packed in a simple 1-button app, delivering performance right out of the box.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

Firstly, we are the first Language agnostic scanner! Users don’t have to worry about selecting a language or messing with any settings! Just scan and Covve scan will recognize multiple languages!

Accuracy is class-leading in multiple languages, and we are constantly tweaking our engine for further improvements.

Privacy is also a main differentiating factor, as all cards are only stored locally on the user’s device, we have no adds, and absolutely no data sharing!

Lastly, simplicity! It does one thing and does it great, with a simple and clean interface.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

We are working on localization and bringing the scanner in multiple countries, with the interface in their local language! Also, we are going through a list of user-requested features, and we will soon be releasing an updated version.
