I had no coding experience or qualifications when I started making the app. I am a self-taught developer whose experience was built on trial and error. Thanks to the internet and online communities I was able to learn and start building an app of my own.
The fact that I am self-taught made the process much harder. I spent weeks or even months on some components that a seasoned developer could do in a day or two. This means that for every error, I had to go back to the drawing board and get to understand how that specific item or component works. So it also involved a lot of research.
Likhwa MoyoLikhwa Moyo is the founder of the Business Builder- Small Business Management Suite. He is also a certified business coach who is passionate about helping people pursue their goal of starting a business. Moyo was born in Zimbabwe some 35 years ago. He initially thought he'd grow up and be a famous rapper but thanks to those that love him, he pursued business studies and graduated with a degree in finance. Moyo began his career as a banker and has vast experience in that sector. He has also worked extensively with small businesses and this eventually led to him creating the Business Builder- Small Business Management Suite as well as a blog of the same name. Outside his professional career, Likhwa Moyo is a huge wrestling fan and enjoys potato chips.
My favorite apps are Drawing Cartoons 2 and PicsArt. Drawing Cartoons allows you to make simple animations whereas PicsArt helps edit pictures in a fraction of the time that it would take on a computer. I also like an app called Productivity Wizard by Yuval Goren. It helps organize your life for productivity.
I started working on the Business Builder app in May 2018 and launched it on the Play Store in August 2018. It must be noted, however, that this is only the beginning and our vision is much bigger. So there are ongoing tweaks and improvements being made to it on a regular basis. There is so much we want to do and so we see the app as an ongoing project.
Many small businesses do not have a written business plan in place. This results in them missing out on funding opportunities and making critical business mistakes. The Business Builder- Small Business Management Suite was built with aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners in mind. The idea was to create a comprehensive business planning and management app tailored for businesses that are just starting out. It was also designed to simplify common business tasks such as writing a business plan or creating a company profile. I was working on a business project some years back and I was using multiple apps for various functions. I, however, realized that I spent more time in specific apps and was, therefore, neglecting some areas of the business which were in apps I didn't use as much. I then did an extensive online search for an app that could cover all aspects of my business but I wasn't pleased with the results. I then started working on a spreadsheet and the idea evolved. Thus the app was born.
The Business Builder is different from other apps in that it combines various business tools to provide a self-guided experience for the startup owner or aspiring entrepreneur. The app is designed to teach the new business owner how to run a business as well as to highlight the key areas that they should focus on. Whereas most apps focus on the accounting or bookkeeping aspect of running a business, this app is a complete business ‘dashboard' for decision making during the early stages. It simplifies complex tasks and presents them in a logical manner that helps the user also grow with their business. By default, the Business Builder App is also designed to motivate you. So when you open the app, our goal is to help the user realize that it is possible to accomplish their dreams and the app is there to provide guidance.
In addition to refining the Business Builder app, we are currently working on a number of features and these include the ability to share and upload documents to a cloud storage platform as well as the ability for users to collaborate. We also have numerous surprise features and enhancements scheduled for future updates. Users should look forward to those.
We encourage new users to try out the app and share it with their friends and anyone that may be starting a business. More importantly, we encourage new users to send us their feedback as well as suggestions on how we can improve the app to help them achieve more. It could be new features, bugs or simple tweaks… we look forward to any feedback that will help us improve.
