AllBetter for customers - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

I have a Master's Degree in Computer Science, but that changed my life in unexpected ways. After graduation, I had to make a living—so I took a job at a Fortune 100 company.

I used my tech skills to program queries and scripts that allowed me to do my job faster and with more accuracy. Things that was taking my team months to analyse I was able to do it in just few days.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

As an entrepreneur, the focus is to provide value to our constituents. in our case, customers and contractors. We pride ourselves on being a solution in the middle.

One of the challenges for any business is how to set yourself apart from the competition.

It should be no surprise that growing revenue tops the list of business challenges for small businesses. Growing revenue opens up more significant opportunities for marketing and expansion, showcases security, and suggests future growth, making the company more attractive to investors.

Second, increasing profit demonstrates that a business has begun the road toward maturing as an operation.

Third, finding the right talents that are also in line with our company's core values.

And, of course, rating capital and securing funding to get off the ground and expand. Most VCs view new ventures as risky, so ensuring the necessary capital is never easy.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

I use copy.ai to come up with good copywriting. It has made my life much easier.
I also use Canva for graphics and HubSpot for any marketing automation.

How long have you been working on this app?

We're on a mission to change the way homeowners find local contractors and help both succeed in their jobs and their lives. The thing I’m most proud of the building is the Allbetter app. Our happy homeowners 12,000+ and professionals 18,000+

The current system keeps homeowners uninformed when it comes to finding and engaging trustworthy contractors for their home improvement projects. Selecting someone to come into your home can be a stress. On the other side, service providers have to overcome so many hurdles just to get the chance to meet you. The system is slow, broken, and encourages the wrong behaviors. I knew I could fix this. I grew up in Morocco where these issues were the exception, not the rule.

So, I built the app. I stretched my dollars and I made it work. I made work work. And I couldn’t be more proud. Not only that, but I built the app with the future in mind. I prioritized the privacy of homeowners and mitigated fraud with ML and analog methods, all to create a marketplace where you can find exactly what you need—and get your business found by exactly who needs you.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

AllBetter is a platform that allows contractors and home workers to grow and scale their brands and businesses with only one, fast and easy app – instead of trying to learn and juggle four or five. AllBetter allows homeowners to name the day, the time and even the price they are willing to pay for services and then have contractors bid on that job.

I got the idea for AllBetter from my community in Morocco. I used to see workers gather on the street corner, and whenever anyone needed anything done around the house they would go down to that corner and ask which workers would be willing to do it for a certain price. I thought that concept could work as an app, and that’s how AllBetter was born. But the AllBetter app has so many amazing features.. so download it!

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

AllBetter looks out for the little guy. Competitors will charge contractors exorbitant fees upfront to list a job, and then they take a large cut from the contractors’ pay when the job is done. Small businesses and mom-and-pop contractors can’t afford that. They have smaller margins so they need an all-in-one platform that helps find, book, and execute jobs. That’s what AllBetter is.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

Building a brand that best represents our company has been an evolving process. We recently rebranded from Chore Relief to AllBetter because we realized our platform can truly make any gig worker economy “all better.” We started by focusing on the home, but the recent rebrand ensures that we can expand to other job markets. Walking dogs or pet sitting? We can make that gig all better. Freelancing? We can make that gig all better. It’s important to recognize when you might need to undergo a rebrand, and we successfully did that to grow our business.
