PhoNetInfo – Device Info - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

Yes, I have developed software on Unix / Linux, Windows (Phone) and former Symbian. I also had some coding experience before I started with the development of PhoNetInfo.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

To identify the different information topics of a phone that could be of interest for my users (e.g. thermal info, network-specific info).

FlightRadar24, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook: I'm using them almost daily

How long have you been working on this app?

The initial version was ready after about one month. Then, I've continuously enhanced it with further features and improvements.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

As a user, I always wanted to get more technical information about my mobile phone and also the associated mobile network. For example: How many CPU cores does my phone have? What about battery health, temperature, and power consumption when running specific apps? To which mobile network cells is my phone connected and how good is the signal strength of each network cell? My app PhoNetInfo provides users with all of this useful information at one glance in a structured way.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

My app shows a lot of information about various topics related to the mobile phone and mobile network at one glance in a structured way. So, a user doesn't have to download several apps that just cover one single topic each. Furthermore, it's backward compatible with devices starting Android "Jelly Bean" (API 16) in order to give as many users as possible the chance to use my app.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

I'm already updating my app on a regular basis (usually once per month) in order to give users of e.g. new phones or new Android versions the best app experience, but also to add new features and fix any bugs. I also have plans to keep that update cycle in the future.

It would be great if the users rate my app in the Google Play store. If they like my app I'm happy about any positive comments in the rating section of the play store, in forums, blogs, etc. In case of any problems, it would be the best that they contact me prior to down-rating the app.
