Protect Amoled – Burn in fix - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

Before this app, I've built only 1 app. I like building Android apps but I don't have much experience at the moment. In school, we only learn basic C++ coding and HTML. So trying Java for the first time was a little challenging.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

I learned a lot from video tutorials but for what I needed to build this app I couldn't find any. I had to look at tutorials for other types of apps like "app lock" so I could learn how to draw (display) over other apps and what permissions I need.

Roman Andrei is 17 years old (soon to be 18) and he’s currently in high school. For Roman, app development is more than just a pastime. His journey began when he was in the 8th grade. He was on the lookout for apps that could assist him at school, but he couldn’t find any that met his needs. This led him to start learning Android development. In addition to this, he also dabbles in web development and aspires to establish his own web design/development and mobile app development agency in the near future.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

I enjoy social media apps but if you use them for too long they could hurt you and your phone. That's why I created Protect Amoled. For most standard social media "scrolling" type of apps it hides static elements.

How long have you been working on this app?

Before the first release of this app I worked at it for at least 3 months. That's because I need to go to school and I also have other activities. But the hours I put in I would say at least 100 (70 for watching tutorials and 30 for coding). Even though the app doesn't look like someone worked at it for 100 hours, I did learn a lot of other useful coding tips.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

I wanted to help users with AMOLED displays that could get burn in from static elements inside social media apps.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

There are no other apps like this on Google Play. That's the main reason why I built it. I think it's a very good app for people who want to protect their phone and to fix their burin in display problems. Also not having any ads and being free it's a good plus for all users.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

I know that at the moment the app is very buggy but I have an update that is not finished yet but that I will release soon. I want to make the app compatible with all types of social media apps and to only display over the selected user apps.

Assuming new users of your app are reading this page. What do you want to ask them to do (contact you about X, Share the app, etc.)?

If anyone wants to help me build this app or just wants to show a bug, contact me at this email address: [email protected] or on X(formally Twitter) at @roman__andrei.

Protect Amoled – Burn in fix

About App:

The “Protect Amoled” application is lightweight and straightforward. The majority of AMOLED smartphones suffer from burn-in due to the prolonged display of static elements from social media. Over 90% of videos on social media do not utilize the full screen. Thus, introducing two black bars can help preserve your screen.

Instructions for use:

1- Grant the “Protect Amoled” permission to “Overlay on other apps”!
2- Initiate the service - two black bars will materialize on your screen
3- To suspend it for a brief period of 5 seconds, tap on either of the black bars
4- Once finished, press Stop

If your screen already exhibits burn-in, you can attempt to rectify it using a unique video. After initiating it, allow the video to play for as long as you desire. The longer it plays, the better the results. CAUTION: This video could potentially induce seizures in individuals with photosensitive epilepsy. Discretion is advised for viewers.

Please note that “Protect Amoled” is still in its initial development phase!
