World History Quiz - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

At the time of creating this app, I had 6 years of Android native apps and Unity games developing experience.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

This app was developed in the Unity3D game engine.
Back then Unity didn't have support for databases, so some of the big challenges while planing this app architecture were the following:
• creating a content manager that was easy to update remotely
• implementing a system with fast content search response
• supporting localized questions for multiple languages
• supporting a large number of images and implementing efficient app memory management
• using the full potential of Unity UI framework which was at the time of development, something new and unexplored for me

The interviewee is Milos Kristc, the Lead Developer at Peaksel. Peaksel is a mobile development and publishing company, located in Nis, Serbia. We specialize in creating, publishing, and marketing mobile games and apps for Android and iOS devices.

The company was founded in 2012 and today has over 50 full-time employees and a portfolio of over 700 mobile apps and games. Peaksel is a privately held, bootstrapped company, meaning it operates on its own profits without external investors up to date.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

Booking, Airbnb -I like to travel a lot, and these apps make the process of organizing journeys and booking trips a lot easier.

How long have you been working on this app?

The first stable app version was released after two months of work. After that, my colleagues and I continued to work on app updates and improvements until this day.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

We wanted to make an app/game that users could play if they wanted to: learn something new, relax in their free time, and compete with their friends.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

• The app has four different types of questions, including "type text" questions, that are localized in multiple languages.
• Its content is easily changed from a remote server
• Every question has a "fun fact"
• Every question has additional graphics and all image content is downloaded from remote servers according to user progress.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

Some of our plans are to:

• Make the app a real-time multiplayer.
• Improve software architecture and try to make a quiz with an "unlimited" number of unique and different questions.
• Combine quiz app with some user engaging background story.

First of all, I would ask them to relax and enjoy playing our quiz game while learning some new and interesting fun facts about every question in the quiz.
