Some experience with HTML and app product management, but our rockstar development team primarily drives coding work.
It was difficult to create a user experience that was both transparent, and accessible. We built our product with privacy at its core, which meant we couldn’t know who our users are, or have access to their data without their explicit consent. Helping our users understand the data that they aggregate about themselves, while making it easy to monetize pieces of it with paying researchers and advertisers who often want to know the exact breakdown of the target audience, before launching a study.
Mark Kilaghbian, the interviewee, is the co-founder and CRO at UBDI. Based in Washington, DC, UBDI (ubdi.com) allows individuals to get compensated for sharing anonymous, aggregated insights from their data for quantitative and qualitative research of all kinds - while protecting user privacy. The consumer app is available in the App Store and Google Play. Companies, universities, and organizations can create studies using UBDI's online research portal. UBDI passes 80% of the value of all studies directly to individuals in cash and points, which are a way to track the contribution of members to the overall value of the community. UBDI is committed to greater user control of data and more equitable value exchange in the data economy.

new generation of asset traders without the fees that created a barrier to
entry for the least economically secure.

We wanted an app that anyone with data could aggregate it into the most comprehensive database on themselves, to monetize it in partnership with paying brands, researchers, and non-profits.
With UBDI, individuals finally have a method to anonymously communicate
with each other and brands so that their opinions and data so instead of
going into the void, users can speak freely and be compensated. Imagine
being able to anonymously speak about the topics that interest you most,
like stocks -- where laws around trading advice make anonymous
comments necessary, but anonymity makes trust nearly impossible. With
UBDI, you can ask linkedin-verified traders about and their verified portfolio
holdings to get a pulse on who thinks what, without knowing the “who.”
Between social, financial, wearable, entertainment, and health users can contribute their data to enter competitions, events, chats, and when there is a hyper-targeted study or offer matched with them--- get paid!
Our app changes the way people value and share the data they generate on and off our platform by anonymously connecting them with both the brands that want to engage with them, and other UBDI members.
Our newest feature -- Tribes, will allow our users to anonymously interact with each other through polls and data-driven insights to discuss their favorite games, products, stocks and more while preserving their privacy and having the option to monetize the data they generate.
