The Job - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

None, this one we have developed from scratch by mainly creating the prototype from Xcode and SketchUp. They are great tools and easy to use even by the newbie like me. I had decided to develop the prototype in order to communicate with the developers for the further development phase.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

I would say “market disruption”, as most of our clients are not familiar with the product and services that we offer to them, as we introduce the new way by converting the boring job searching, job board, and social network into a job marketplace/consumer workplace in order to create an ecosystem of career development and offer new ways of hiring, as businesses can shop for candidates like they are shopping on E-commerce platforms.

Kavichart is the co-founder, chief financial and technology officer of 'The Job'. He leads the development and design of the platform and its core algorithm to fulfill the experiences for users. He innovates the financial solutions for the organization with his vigorous experience of ex-custodian banker at HSBC and Citibank. Wikorn is the co-founder of 'The Job'. His role is set up for success across four areas - Strategy, People, Execution and Communication. He is an ex-senior Business Development Manager at Procter & Gamble. Currently he is a senior Consumer & Shopper Insights Manager at Pepsi.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

I have work experience as a banker and I am a part-time musician and entrepreneur, hence I love: 1) 'Spotify' - it helps musicians a lot to discover new markets! They can track each of their tunes, how many times their tunes get streamed, how many downloads, and it helps by providing marketing right away with the concert nearby function for the listeners. 2) 'Tumblr' - I love its UX/UI. In my opinion, these two are the most creative UX/UI apps so far on the market. Its micro-blog is tremendous, the UX is just super creative and really easy to use even though there are a lot of functions.

How long have you been working on this app?

We have been developing it for 3 years. 1) Drafting stage, writing each page on paper, this process took us around 5 months. 2) Prototyping stage, converting from paper based to computer based with SketchUp and Xcode, took around 4 months. 3) Business requirements stage, took us around 6 months to work with IT consultant to make all the functions truly functional with all the requirements. 4) Development stage, this has taken us one and a half years already and we are still developing, fixing bugs, adjusting UX/UI based on feedback received. In conclusion, this application has been developed for almost 3 years, since late 2015.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

AI job matching, professional social network, digital recruitment, active big data, wallet system, career development and human capital flow.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

We are planning to expand more marketing to ASEAN and BRICS as they are 50% of the global workforce. When it comes to new features, we will keep on developing UX to be the top notch on the market, and we will keep on developing marketplace for B2B. We will also develop our wallet system into something huge, our IT security will be based on cloud, and transactional information will be based on blockchain.
