Site Diary - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

Nope. I am the Product Owner so I have no coding experience. We have a team of developers with several years of experience.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

Integrating the back-end with the front-end. Also in the front-end, making the thing look and feel according to the UX/UI designers' specifications.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

'Headspace' - nice and simple to use and does the job. 'Wunderlist' - simple to use and beautifully designed.

How long have you been working on this app?

2 years.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

Keeping it simple to enable fast adaptation by field workers. Construction workers don't want to take the time to learn a complex app.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

Our app is the first app in the construction tech space to integrate task management and a site diary allowing users to create and add information about a task (such as manpower, equipment/plant and materials), and assign it to people involved in the project. When reporting progress on a task, the diary form will be automatically filled with all the task info which will make for quick report and no additional work to fill the entire form.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

Timesheet and integration with other construction tools, ERP and scheduling software.
