Yes, I am an iOS software developer and I honed my skills with experience with a number of startups in the San Francisco Bay Area. My company Seven Mile Apps develops apps for clients, but I have also had a burning desire to develop my own app portfolio. This is the first app as a part of that initiative! I hired my own development team for this app.
The most challenging part was the level of detail required. I had to work around the clock with my developers and QA test every small detail of the application. It requires great communication skills, product knowledge, design and being able to convey to developers what I needed. I also needed to keep my vision and make sure to track all of the required and necessary changes while being on a rigid timeline!
It is definitely all the different hats required - product manager, QA tester, marketer, researcher, developer and all of those skills need to come together so that your app is ready to go on time and with a great marketing plan for growth!

I like a lot of different types of apps. Some of my current favorites are Auxy which is a DJ application and Videoleap for video editing.
I also love Spotify, Headspace, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Slack, and Youtube. These are some of my go-to apps. I love these applications for their social features, great UI, speed and overall quality. For example, on Instagram, I like to play around and notice the little animations and details that they have. These apps are great with advanced functionality and ease of use for my daily routines.
I have been working on this app for about 6 months. The time commitment has varied as I was balancing other activities during that time. I would say I had about two months that were major sprints where I was working full time around the clock on the app!
I knew that I would need to nail simplicity, speed, ease of use, quick and intuitiveness, and the PDF feature set with this application. I came to this from my market research where I researched the App Store, different players, markets and what consumers were looking for. I also recommend the Sensor Tower for your app research! My market is the business user, assistant, student or teacher. Someone who needs to quickly scan, sign and export a document quickly! Also, someone who may need to convert a scan into easily editable text very quickly! We have an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) feature!
Our app is unique through the user experience and design, as well as features. The app has unique user experience and it is very easy and fast to take a scan, save it and export it. Multi-page scans are also incredibly easy using our application.
Users can also fill and complete a PDF using our app! They can add text, signatures and a variety of other editing features!
We have many new features coming! We have an improved camera and more PDF editing features including highlighting and blurring.
We also have a new UX in the works, improved PDF filling abilities and a feature called Wifi Transfer which makes it easy to open your documents on another device!
