Paras - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

Yes, I have plenty of prior development and coding experience. I have developed and promoted over 200 unique apps.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

The most challenging aspect of developing 'Paras' was the AI used in the app, which helps users to get focus and prioritize things so they don’t have to.

I'm a technologist, entrepreneur, and investor. Early in my career, I developed a comprehensive software to manage road assets. This software became the standard for analyzing and approving mega-loans to foreign countries. At Verizon, I led the modernization of mission-critical application serving 75+ million subscribers. In 2003, I founded and exited from a VoIP marketplace that was trading over a million minutes a day. When Apple released its first iPhone, I founded Pyntail as a game studio. Since then, Pyntail has morphed into a cloud-based mobile backend as a service. In last two years, I've made many seed investments in real-estate, media, fin-tech, social, and IoT start-ups. I am also a published author of two books: Microsoft Biztalk Server and Business Process Automation & The Red Queen Effect.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

One of my favorite apps right now is 'CamScanner' because it allows me to convert JPEG files into more manageable PDF. Also, using OCR (optical character recognition), it allows me to convert them into text to further trim down the size of the file.

How long have you been working on this app?

About a year to this day.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

The user need that I had in mind when developing 'Paras' was their need to bring balance in their lives. There are only 24 hours in a single day and we wanted our users to be able to get the most out of those 24 hours. We wanted the users to be able to maximize their time whether it’s for personal activities, professional, familial, or even for the community.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

We believe that our app is better than other to-do apps because of the artificial intelligence that is built into it. One use of this artificial intelligence serves to automatically send reminders to users based on how long it takes to finish a task. For example, if it took you 1 week to complete a research project, 'Paras' will send you a reminder 1 week in advance on the next research project that you have to do. I am particularly proud of this because this way, it is simple to manage your time. 'Paras' makes you devote your time to doing that research project for one week, while the rest of the time is yours to spend however you want. That way, you don’t just devote yourself to work all day, you’re allowed to spend the rest of the time as your leisure or with family. That way, a fulfilling work-life balance is created.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

Future plans for the app include the release of an iOS version. Also, a shared list where you create a specific list of tasks that you and your collaborators can view at once.

Assuming new users of your app are reading this page. What do you want to ask them to do (contact you about X, Share the app, etc.)?

I would ask them to invite their friends and family to try out 'Paras' and share it with their co-workers. I’d like more people to see how useful 'Paras' can be in their daily lives.
