Yes. I'm coding since I was 10 which gives me some 30+ years of experience. However, this is my first mobile app, but I was involved in developing several mobile games since 2013.
The Paintation app uses on-device AI technology which is pretty new and exciting. The biggest challenge was to make that part work on various Android devices. Unfortunately, that is achieved only partially.
Aleksandar MilosavljevicAleksandar likes to call himself a programmer. That is something he has been doing for the most part of his life. He started coding when he was 10. Back then, he had Commodore 64. When joystick ports stop working, he started retyping programs from some book on Simons' BASIC that he got from his elder brother. Later, he started writing his own programs and has been doing that ever since. Besides being a programmer, he is also an Associate Professor at the University of Nis, Faculty of Electronic Engineering, involved in teaching courses on Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Vision, and Deep Learning.
There are plenty of photo editing apps. When it comes to style transfer I must mention Prisma that was the first in the market. I would also recommend their newer app Lensa that is directed toward face editing. When it comes to face magic, I must also mention FaceApp. Besides these Allstar apps, I would like to single out Clip2Comic from DigitalMasterpieces that produces very good results when it comes to cartooning photos.
It took me 6 months of pretty intensive work.
Creative need. The app is intended for people who love art but are more skillful with photography. Paintation lets them be creative in some zone between the two.
The obvious part is on-device processing that protects your privacy. However, I believe that Paintation has a lot to offer and that is its strongest point. In Paintation you may also learn about art movements, paintings, and their authors. I don't think any of the other style transfer apps have anything similar.
Besides adding new styles, the long-term goal is to try to improve stylization quality and try to introduce a certain level of control over the process.
I would like to invite them to download and take some time to try the app. I would be happy if could get some feedback from them about things they like and dislike, what they are missing, etc.
