Oh My Gem – Smash Them All - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

I am self-taught, I started to code with the software "The games factory" (a software that does not require any traditional knowledge of coding). It allowed me to quickly realise all the ideas that I had in my mind, so I created about fifty applications, ranging from simple brick case to survival horror, through a series of skate games.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

When I develop, the biggest challenge for me is to come up with an original concept for the game, with a neat gameplay, addictive and if possible free bugs!

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

Actually, I'm more of a console gamer, but in mobile app I have a preference for Tower Defence

How long have you been working on this app?

It took me about 8 months to develop Oh My Gem.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

When I developed this game I wanted to bring an exciting and fun experience, but also a way to spend time when dropping by at my grandma’s place, I realised that the game had a pleasant effect, almost as kneading a stress ball or as playing with a yoyo.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

"Oh My Gem" is  a funny mini-game with an original horizontal-bouncing gameplay, a mix between Puyo Puyo, Guitar Hero and Burrito Bison. It's easy enough to be played quickly on the go, at family diners or when you only have a few minutes.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

In future updates, I would like to bring more depth to the gameplay, more features, improve the design of backgrounds and characters (ex. bosses with different looks and characteristics), but also integrate the "game center" function so that players can share their best scores online and unlock "achievements”. For now its only available on iOS devices but we plan to release it on other platforms in the futur.
