It’s not a mystery that the number of tier 1 navigation apps is very low. The reason is that the routing algorithm is one of the most complex ones, and requires constant improvement.
NDriveNDrive, was founded as a spin-off of a digital map business in 2007, has headquarters in Porto, Portugal, and offices in Shenzhen, China. Owned and managed by its founding entrepreneurs, leading a talented and dynamic team of 50 people with in-depth knowledge on Navigation and Location software. As a company that provides location-based solutions, we love apps that somehow provide an added value to the user’s daily life, such as Karta GPS. Apps like TripIt, TripAdvisor, Moovit and komoot are also amongst the favorites in the office.
Karta GPS was launched in late 2016, but its core engine is being developed and improved since 2007. Since then, we also launched a few regional apps that are more adapted to specific regions, like Karta GPS Germany.
We look at it as a commodity, an app that the user installs and keeps using on a daily basis, whether it being to escape from traffic on its daily commuting or to be used as a travel companion abroad, without running into expensive data costs.
NDrive as a company is one of the few independent location-based solutions providers, and that comes with a price tag. Being always among big sharks of the industry helped a lot in terms of the product roadmap. That being said, Karta GPS tries to offer a premium experience by running without 4/5G, and at the same time allow the user to have some degree of customization.
A new core version is currently in the oven, and we are very excited about that. It will be out in the first months of 2022, and users can expect a completely new experience with a fully redesigned app, that will offer new features, consistent with the user requests we have had so far. It will be our most advanced B2C product, so far.
