Notification History Log - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

Yes. I'm a full-stack developer. I have been coding since 2012 and developed many web and mobile applications.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

There are plenty of manufacturers using Android and everyone is using their own customized skins. Plenty of OEMs are implementing aggressive battery optimization mechanisms that are killing the apps that are running in the background.

Making users aware of this problem and guiding them to tweak their phone settings to prevent our app from killing is really challenging.

Also, each app shows the notification differently. Writing a common logic to handle any kind of notification received is a never-ending work and I still tweak the logic in every update.

Amar Ilindra is a gadget freak, tech enthusiast, and full stack developer. He loves to try everything with technology and blog about his tech experience on Geek Dashboard. Apart from writing, he spends most of this time developing useful web apps and mobile applications for Android and iOS.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

How long have you been working on this app?

I have been working on this Notification History Log app for the last 3 years.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

To help users with organizing the notifications they are receiving on Android smartphones and tablets.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

Notification History Log is mostly designed following the material design guidelines. I’m proud to say, this app has the best user interface and user experience.

Apart from design, Notification History Log has a log of useful features like advanced search, blacklist, filters, export, backups, dark mode, widget, etc.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

I’m planning to add Google Drive backup and restore features to Notification History Log in the coming updates. Along with it, I’m trying to open the actual notification instead of opening the app when the user clicks on the saved notification. Technically it is not possible every time, so it will work temporarily for the recent 100-200 notifications.

Assuming new users of your app are reading this page. What do you want to ask them to do (contact you about X, Share the app, etc.)?

If you are a Notification History Log user and facing any issue with the app, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me at [email protected] before leaving a review on Play Store.

Also, the app is developed to store the notifications you are receiving on your smartphone. It starts storing the notifications only from the time you install the app. If you are trying to see the notifications you received before installing the app, it is not possible.

Notification History Log

Notification History Log is bundled with both light and dark themes. More themes will be added in the coming updates.
