MyTeeth - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

Yes, MyTeeth was my second big iOS app and the 5th or so app for Apple platforms.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

MyTeeh should be fully flexible - so not a video but a real flexible animation. Figuring out how to describe the arm movement just needed simple geometry I though, but that does not necessarily work with what I got from the illustrator. It took me quite a while but now it’s fantastically seamless I think :)

"When I was becoming a teen about 12 years old I started programming, first Basic, then, Pascal, then a bit Assembler and later Java, but when it came to university I studied Math and did my Ph.D. over non-linear semidefinite programs. During that time in 2005 I discovered macOS Panther Apple’s user-friendly approach, I bought a mac, started coding in Objective-C, and fell in love with macOS APIs.
I worked for a big California-based software company before I created my own brand of software “TheKeptPromise” www.TheKeptPromise.com - software that delivers 100% of what it promises.
I have never looked back and jumped onto all new technologies Apple throughout.

The company lives from the friends I made over the last decade+. I collaborated always with interesting people for my projects and made friends along the way.
I created about a dozen public apps by that time and many more for myself and my friends and help other (friend-)developers where I could.

Today my apps can support my family with my two daughters."

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

Box was the most surprising app to me. I created brain teaser from all the things your iPhone can do with such simple graphics yet beautiful graphics - I wished I had that Idea.
I also loved geometry defense, it was a smart game done only by a programmer he used effects to make hand-made graphics look cool.

How long have you been working on this app?

MyTeeth was quite a few months (I think about 3+) to figure everything out. We met for whole 10 days and nights straight to make the basics work and look good.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

I come from a big family and saw the struggle to convince children to brush their teeth. I wanted that those children enjoy brushing their teeth and since children are masters in mimicking I used that simply showing them how it’s done with joy - hoping their empathy would transfer the joy of the brushing animation to themselves. - And it did for many families. So the need was to feel joy for something that you have to do anyways, but not leave that up to the parents but delivering it directly.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

Later I added more game like mechanisms, like collecting stickers and giving the the tooth-brushing-friends a backstory when I noticed there is a need on keeping it up for a while to show it’s effect.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

At this point MyTeeth is really matured and the next steps would be adding new characters.

Assuming new users of your app are reading this page. What do you want to ask them to do (contact you about X, Share the app, etc.)?

I would ask them to share it with parens where they see the need for a relaxed evening. I think a few parents found a magic approach to give their children joy when brushing their teeth, but many like us can need some help. Sometimes simple so that the child takes the time to actually brush for 3 minutes.

So if you see the need please send someone the link to MyTeeth.
