MySyara – Car Care on your schedule! - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

Yes, I am a Computer Engineer and I have been programming for 4+ years. I created my first app when I was in my 3rd year of engineering. After that, I have created several other apps, one of which has over 100K downloads.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

As we started prototyping the app, we had to decide whether to go with Native or Hybrid Development. We started the initial phase of the App around March 2019. It was quite a big project and we needed a good working app before the launch in June 2019. So going with Native Development was less risky as I already had a good experience in Native Android Development, but in the end, we decided to go with Flutter. So we allocated a month to understand Flutter and within a little over 3 months we were ready with our first phase app. So creating something from scratch with a completely new framework in a relatively short period of time was the most challenging aspect of developing this app.

Abubakar is working on Android for over 4 years. His current interests are developing with Flutter. He owns and maintains the DebitCredit Android application having 90K+ downloads. So far, he has worked on more than 10 projects in Android and has good experience in website development and Python.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

Some of my favorite apps are AirBnB, Washmen & Zomato. When it comes to simple yet unique UI / UX, I really like the way AirBnB has come up in all these years. Zomato on the other side has always come up with new ideas when it comes to adding to cart or order placement.

How long have you been working on this app?

I have been working on this since March 2019, so it's been a little over a year.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

Whenever I start prototyping an app, the things that I always keep in mind are 1. Ease of use and 2. An app should be self-explanatory. My way of creating any app is: Unique User Interface with an Easy User Experience.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

The innovation that we bring with the app is a seamless user checkout with the minimal steps required along with the design being self-explanatory. To make this possible we decided to go with a single page application. Putting all the features on a single page is itself a challenge and compared to any other similar app in the market, we designed our own strategy call SAF (Simple as F**k) . As you will see in the app, with just 4 taps you can place an order -

2) Check Required Services
3) Choose Suitable Schedule
4) Confirm Order

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

The Upcoming feature will improvise the addition and selection of vehicle, more vehicle information, and a more seamless payment flow.
