My CSEA - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

I've had. After I graduated in 2015 I spent two years working in Utica, developing games for the mobile platform.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

The most challenging part was probably securing data transfers with the API. The mobile app itself was pretty straight forward, but it had been the first time I designed and built an API from scratch. As for the mobile app itself, I would have to say resolving differences or discrepancies to maintain cross platform development was the biggest challenge.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

I don’t use many. I use Facebook’s Messenger app to stay in touch with some friends, and I use my Outlook app to stay in touch with work related issues/events. I play a few games on it but I mostly use it for communication, or TV. I use Hulu and Netflix and stream to my TV.

How long have you been working on this app?

I officially began working on the app in September 2017.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

It was designed as an app that allows our users easier access to information, whether it was the benefits they enjoy as our members or contact info, events, access to web applications, etc. It also allows them to send us feedback directly, and overall increases our line of communication with them.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

I haven’t seen many apps that perform quite the same, but I would say the extent in which we listen and respond to our members. This app is for them, so if we have enough suggestions or requests for features we prioritize our members needs above all else. We have included a direct line for feedback in the app.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

We plan to evolve and grow with the needs and wants of our members. How it grows is really up to them but we aren’t planning on slowing down any time soon. It will receive constant maintenance and feature upgrades as we go forward.
