My Caddy © - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

I have been an IT consultant for the past 18 years and I have over 20 years of web development and coding experience.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

The most challenging part of developing the mobile app was taking the original idea, which was to publish a book, and develop an application that could be easily accessed while on the golf course. We wanted the mobile app to be easy enough to navigate during a round of golf.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

I do not have favorite apps, however, I am a fanatic of apps that make my work life easier. Apps like Facebook and Instagram really do not hold a lot of value to me because I do not find them absolutely necessary. However, being an administrator of numerous Facebook pages for my companies, I find the Facebook Pages app to be a true timesaver. Another one of my favorite apps is the Google Admin app which allows me to manage my clients' Google Work accounts while I am away from my office.

How long have you been working on this app?

The initial book that was written, My Caddy ©, was written over the course of a few years. The book was started in 2014 and was finished in 2017. The creation of the mobile application began in December of 2017 and was finalized in February of 2018.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

We wanted to fill a gap in the mobile application market, specifically with regards to golf applications. While there are numerous applications for golf, there are not any applications that assist the golfer with numerous difficult scenarios they may encounter on the golf course.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

Our app is specifically designed to help and assist any golfer, regardless of their handicap. Our explanations are easy to understand and easy to use. There are countless situations golfers find themselves in, from being in a store with thousands of club heads, shafts, grips, different balls, etc...Where do I begin? Hopefully you won’t purchase thousands of dollars worth of equipment that might in fact hurt your game or even injure you. The My Caddy © Golf App allows a novice golfer to feel comfortable at their first golf outing. It can make the time you spend at the driving range effective. The My Caddy © Golf App also advises you on basic etiquette out on the golf course. Our app is your caddy, teacher, and friend. It goes wherever you go. Also, it will be listening to you, to better serve you in the future.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

Beginning in the spring, we will be integrating video into our app. This will allow our users to easily understand some of the various techniques explained in the My Caddy © Golf App.
