MathCrack - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

Yes, I have been learning how to code websites and APIs since I was 12 in 2017, since then, have been working on improving my programming skills by learning about more complex programming topics.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

Building the first MVP and getting it out to the app stores for some friends to test. The idea had come long before the first production version was available for the public to download, but getting to the point of developing it and perfecting it took much more time.

The interviewee, Marco Antonio Otaviano Soares, is the developer of MathCrack and the Head of Business Operations at Stell Inc., a company that strives to innovate with educational apps, support small businesses with high-quality technology, and offer technical software consulting services.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

TikTok: TikTok serves me content without me having to look for it and has very accurate mechanisms for targeting its users with desirable content.

Snapchat: Snapchat is an easy way to communicate with friends and mix both pictures and texts all in one, along with offering more private ways of communicating with others

Twitter: Twitter on the other hand, ever since the acquisition has brought forward enhancements to their platforms and more insights into the short-form thoughts that people have and bringing the ability for people to all have a public say in a particular issue.

How long have you been working on this app?

The conceptualization of the app came about in 2019, and since then I have been working on the app and eventually released it to market in January 2021. The app has been worked on in the background over the past two years in order to bring the experience I have from working with other startups to develop enhancements for users wanting to learn math and bring a powerful tool for all in need.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

The problem users face while looking for math calculators in Middle School & High School is that most calculator applications are scattered around between different websites and apps, and there is not a solution that brings together all the calculators into one. Therefore, developing MathCrack seemed like the ideal solution to bring users together in using a single app to calculate math problems ranging from Geometry to Pre-Calculus and Unit Converters. As we move forward with the app, users will have the capability of also having an immersive learning experience inside the same app they use to calculate their math problems.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

As previously mentioned, MathCrack brings different math calculators under the same app, taking away the user’s need to download at least 3 math apps to solve a wide-ranging number of math problems. The innovation we bring as an app is a customizable and interactive experience for our users when using MathCrack as their own math calculator. They can change the look of the app to one of the color schemes we offer, along with having the ability to access 40+ math calculators and formulas to learn from. I am personally very proud of how far we’ve come in innovating with new features within the app such as the ability the scan and type math problems which we continue to enhance but have brought a strong set of extra features our users can access.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

One of the main features we plan on releasing revolves around improving the learning experience for our users. We already offer a large amount of calculators that users can use, and a smaller set of formulas they can learn from, but we are working on developing a brand new learning experience for different math concepts present in both Middle & High School math. Along with a brand new learning experience for users, we are continuing to enhance our scanning and typing features to better serve our users with the math solutions they are looking for.

Assuming new users of your app are reading this page. What do you want to ask them to do (contact you about X, Share the app, etc.)?

We are always open to feedback, and my personal email is also open for any feedback about the app: [email protected]

If you enjoy the app, it is crucial to leave a rating and review, along with sharing it with friends, family, and most importantly parents that have children who struggle with certain math concepts and are looking for extra help.

Feel free to also reach out regarding new features you wish to see in the app, along with other inquiries.
