Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

No, I was a professional photographer at that time and tried to build an app for photographers just for fun.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

Real-time color-correction of the image – Applying different color profiles to the live view 30FPS so that the smartphone doesn’t get red hot. )

Roman is a native Ukrainian and lives in the capital city of Kyiv. He used to work as a commercial photographer and filmmaker for 12 years, but tried to develop several mobile apps for professional photographers, and decided to leave photography for software development. He has been working as a full-time Mobile Developer for 2.5 years and is very passionate about programming.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

Instagram app – Navigation and visual presentation are great.

How long have you been working on this app?

About 4 years – It took listening to a lot of feedback from my users before you can see the app as it is today. )

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

The specific need was to simulate the view for a particular photo/video camera and the lens when you don’t have that camera in your hands (it is the so-called director’s viewfinder). Especially this is important for heavy cameras, like ARRI or Blackmagic URSA.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

My app was leading in innovation among similar apps. It first introduced the real-time color-correction and display of the larger field view than the built-in camera was able to provide. These innovative features were adopted by the competition shortly.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

I will try to keep up with the new cameras releases.
