Idle Tycoon: Space Company - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

No, I am the Marketing& Community Manager of Bling Bling Games GmbH and I am almost never involved in our coding and development processes.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

I think some of the most challenging aspects of developing Idle Tycoon: Space Company were the balancing and graphics production. The three structures in the game and every mission is balanced in much finer nuances than most players will realize. Also, because we are a very small team (only 4 employees at the time of development) and we do everything in house, creating all the assets and finding the right style was and still is a lot of work.

Martin, the interviewee, is the Marketing& Community Manager of Bling Bling Games GmbH. Bling Bling Games is an independent game development company from the south of Germany.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

One of my all-time favorite apps is Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes. I started playing when the game was fairly new, and I witnessed all the amazing additions and various off- and online gaming modes. I liked the approachability for free-to-play gamers as well as the overall setting and the graphics. It’s great for multi and single players. At the moment I find myself playing a lot of Archero. It’s just addictive and the short-term level-ups make it so fun.

How long have you been working on this app?

Production of the game started in early 2018 and we are still working on it, improving and adding new features and content. So,we have been working on it for close to two years.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

We wanted to create a really fun idle game that’s just casual enough to fill the smaller breaks in everyday life. Something cool that distracts you for just a few minutes every day. That’s why we made it free-to-play and playable offline.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

What we are really proud of (other than the amazing artwork) is, that we made a space tycoon game that lets the player idle for a long time and is still playable offline. I don’t think there is another game that lets you manage these cool space structures in such a way. And we made it to over one million downloads since then all while being 100% independent and having a rating of 4.5 stars.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

Our plans for Idle Tycoon: Space Company are to create more missions for the three structures, new events, and achievements. There is also some room for some general quality of life improvements.

We just want new users to give it a try if they want something that distracts and is beautiful to look at. Of course we always appreciate feedback and ideas from our users and we always try and answer every email and suggestion we receive.
