I am not the coder myself, but I am the designer and planner for the web & app services. One of our team members is the one with the coding experience.
Communication between the designer(planner) and coder is the most challenging part. Trying not to get depressed when users leave bad reviews.
Sanghoon Kang is the CEO of Screw Bar Inc. which started in 2016. Sanghoon is still working as an Executive Director and Art Instructor at Artphil Institute in Korea, where he is assisting students' prepare their Art & Design Portfolio. He believes that running the Art Institution is very important for a better society. It is also easy in finding great human resources for the company itself, by training and expanding future employees and collaborators. Sanghoon holds a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art from Cooper Union in New York. He is still active as a fine artist, called Dirtographer(check his personal Behance). In his spare time, he enjoys boxing and reading books.
I am in love with the app called Umano, reading news articles while I'm driving. It is very simple but powerful. Also BeeCanvas, it's a collaboration tool like a whiteboard in the digital world. It has one of the most powerful intuitiveness.
We have spent one and a half years on it.
Many people are obsessed with picking out the perfect photo out of tonnes of photos taken without much care: and this is because there is no limit with a digital camera. Therefore, I thought that users need some virtue of limits through using Gudak. It will revive the value of each photo shoot. They could focus more on the way they take their photos, instead of concentrating on the post-production stage.
Nowadays we have various types of camera applications. Most of the camera apps include more options to control all the details to manipulate your shots. Even lots of analog film effect cameras are around us. However, Gudak does not only provide the disposable film camera filter looks, but also the experience of a real disposable camera. Literally, you have to wait for 72 hours to see the results! The waiting experience is thrilling and will heighten your curiosity and excitement of the moments. Also recalling your memory after 3 days will transform it from a short-term to a long-term memory.
We planned to develop SNS way before Gudak. Therefore, the next step will be done in the form of SNS. We love to redesign the structure of a traditional social network.
Please be simple! Do not be too complicated with your smartphone cam. Your life is already complicated enough. Gudak will give you another level of enjoyment through user experience.
About App: With only 24 shots for one film roll and after taking the last film shot, you have to wait an hour to reload the film. Once you finish the roll, you have to wait 3 full days for the development processing to see the photos! ‘Gudagdali’ is an old Korean term meaning outdated. In today’s digital era where the ‘undo’ function is prevalent, we may have lost the ‘thrill’ of choosing and cherishing moments. The ‘thrill of waiting’ for printed photos may also have been lost. To get away from the mainstream routine of ‘taking many photos and picking out the few good ones’, we hope to bring back that ‘Gudak Moment.’ Gudak Cam has been designed to focus on Eastman Kodak’s "Kodak Moment": “moments to be remembered for a long time.” No matter how beautiful a photo is, it is just a memory of something and a ‘hommage’ of a moment. Our team's intention is to reproduce that memory and moment by eliminating the Instant Review feature of conventional digital cameras and reducing the conventional viewfinder feature by 95%, leaving only the minimum requirements for taking shots.
