Freelo Project Management - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

Yes, I ran a classic digital agency focused on development for several years. I wanted to focus on my own product instead of the client’s. It was a huge switch.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

It’s not only a mobile app but also a classic web app. The most challenging aspect was UX and UI. Users spend hours with our app every day. They completely rely on it! So, everything must be clear and smooth. There is no place for excuses. Alternative apps are just a click away.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

I love podcasts, I listen to them every day, so 'The Podcast App' is one of the top. Another favorite app is 'WhatsApp', it makes communication really nice and smooth. I can’t imagine my workouts without 'Endomondo' or 'Tabata'.

How long have you been working on this app?

Well, it’s two and a half years of daily hard work since we launched our first version of 'Freelo'. No mobile app at that time. We will need several more years to make all of our dreams become reality with this app.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

Easy communication over tasks. Not real-time communication, but clear and structured tasks lists, with maximum comfort while using it. Important for us is also the financial side of projects. Therefore, we track time and costs on every task.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

- 'Freelo' has the ability to show tasks in different context across multiple projects. Other apps usually display only one board/project. - 'Freelo' is focused on the financial side of projects, it has a built-in system for time tracking. - Our app is very simple to use but powerful, as one of the founders is a UX expert and a perfectionist. - The last part is support for process management. Literally, anything can be created from templates starting with sets of sub-check ending with whole projects. It saves tons of time and money.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

We would like to start with machine learning and AI to help people with their to-dos and projects. It would be nice to replace human project managers some time :)
