Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

No, that was my first project. I started developing it even before I started at the university.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

The app is completely written in web technologies. The app actually consists only of a hidden web browser, which then displays a locally stored web page. This implementation was challenging, but the advantage is that you can easily port the app to other platforms.

My name is Roland and I come from Switzerland. I study computer science and develop the app in my free time. App development fascinates me because I like feeling after realizing an idea that is then appreciated by many users.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

I like simple apps that put a high focus on usability. One of my favorite apps is Revolut. The functionality is limited to the essentials, so you can find everything very quickly. I also like the Todoist app. There I find it impressive how few clicks you need to organize tasks.

How long have you been working on this app?

I've been working on it since 2013. First I used the app for myself to study for school. Later I wrote the Android app and published it on the Play store.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

For me, simplicity and user-friendliness are central. For example, in my app, you can create the next flashcard with one click. Most other apps require two to do so.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

I developed the design system of the app myself; so this gives me a maximum of freedom. I used this to cover the needs of the user as better as possible. Because I have to study a lot at the university, I use the app often myself. I think this is a big advantage for development because it helps me to understand the user’s needs better.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

I have a huge list of ideas to improve the app. In the near future, I will add pictures and chart support. This feature was requested by many users. It will also be possible to create folders. With folders, it will be much easier to find stacks.
