Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

Yeah, sure. I studied Computer Science at the ETH Zurich from 2001 to 2007, where I also wrote my doctoral thesis. Since then I have always worked as a software developer or IT professional in different industries.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

The integration with hardware systems is always challenging by itself, but having to deal with communication delays, asynchronicity etc. makes it challenging to develop a stable application that sits on top of all the low level layers.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

WhatsApp - the simplicity and web integration of this communication platform is just fantastic. SwitzerlandMobility - an app that guides you on your outdoor journeys in Switzerland with fantastic and detailed maps.

How long have you been working on this app?

We’ve been working on it for two years now. But the process is not over. The app is constantly being expanded and improved, especially since the commercial drone market is just in its beginning stages.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

Needs of hobby pilots: Do cool things with an as easy and flexible tool as a Swiss Pocket Knife. They want to take nice and cinematographic photos and videos, learn new drone flying skills with the utmost safety. Needs of professional pilots: Get high quality footage in less time, gain more money, highest possible safety, grow his/her business, get competitive advantage in his/her geographical area.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.
