Dentacare - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

My prior coding experience includes Java, Python, web development (html, js, CSS), and solidity. For Dentacare, I worked closely with a trusted external developer with over 6 years of experience in developing games and apps for mobile platforms.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

For me, it was the first project combining mobile app development with integration of Blockchain functionalities. Dentacare users are not necessarily involved in the cryptocurrency world. Therefore, one of the most challenging aspects of developing Dentacare, was the integration of the currency within the app in such a way, so that it doesn't harm the user experience but enrich it.

I love each app that gives me a reason to use it continuously. That requires exceptional user interaction and engaging experiences.

How long have you been working on this app?

It’s been a year since the initial discussions about the app.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

Dentacare approaches the need of establishing proper, long-lasting dental care habits.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

There are just a few other apps on the market with a similar purpose. However, Dentacare has its distinctive characteristics. Firstly, it is focused on establishing habits: not on encouraging one-time efforts. The 3-month Dentacare program is oriented towards educating people on the importance of oral hygiene and prevention, everything in a fun and gamified environment. The inherent incentive system is another unique feature of Dentacare. Only users who adhere to the recommendations within the app - throughout the whole 3-month program (and afterwards upon desire) - are rewarded for their efforts and good results with Dentacoin tokens. Therefore, the incentives serve, not only as an initial trigger for using the app, but they also motivate consistency. The earned tokens have a real-world value: they can be traded on international exchange platforms, stored for potential value multiplication and/or used as a means of payment for dental services at clinics in 13 countries around the world.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

At the moment we are working on the next important update of the app which will provide users with a much more personalized experience through customized user journeys depending on age, current dental status, preferences, and other important factors. Future steps include electric toothbrush integration and interaction with other apps and devices.
