Bullet Bet Predictions - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

I have never had a job in the development field, but coding has always been my passion since I was a child. I still remember when I asked my father how Windows 95 worked: he gave me a Visual Basic book and started to taking me to a small computer shop every week where I could ask for some help. That was just the beginning! Since then I have done so much work by myself and I have learnt almost all the major coding languages (C++, Java, Python, and many more) that I currently use to solve any problem.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

Before starting the development of Bullet Bet Predictions, I had never written code for the mobile framework and I felt that something was missing in my coding experience. I had already developed a lot of stuff in many languages, but I had never worked on smartphones. For this reason I decided to start this new adventure and after one week my first and very simple app was ready to be published on Google Play. My previous knowledge of Java definitely allowed me to be very fast, in fact I had just to concentrate on how to make my app fit every kind of Android device. Once I solved this issue, I felt again that something more was missing and so I started to study Swift for iOS.

My name is Giovanni Pecoraro. I come from Nocera Inferiore: a city in the South of Italy in province of Salerno. I was born in 1990 and during my childhood I always demonstrated a very strong passion for science and computers. I got a degree in "Telecommunications Engineering" summa cum laude at the University of Naples "Federico II" and then a 2nd level Master degree in "Advanced Communication and Navigation Satellite Systems" summa cum laude at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata", where I am currently a PhD candidate working on Machine Learning and Signal Processing applied to people localization and counting and activity recognition. In the last year I am also concentrating on the cyber security in order to complete my knowledge about telecommunications. During my free time I try to improve my coding skills and play sports.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

I think I don't have any favorite app, but there are some apps I consider totally indispensable for every smartphone possessor. I don't like social networks, but I am an admirer of Google and I love the way this company has radically changed the world. Nowadays it is almost impossible to find people without a Gmail mailbox or without Google Maps installed on their devices. I also like WhatsApp since it did something like a Copernican revolution to the modern communications. Just think how you could talk to your friends before the birth of WhatsApp, it seems such a long time ago that for young people it is like the invention of the phone.

How long have you been working on this app?

It took me almost 4 weeks to complete Bullet Bet Predictions. In detail, during the first 2 weeks I wrote the statistical prediction models for the biggest European Championships then I started the development of the app itself. It was not easy, in fact I had to put a lot of useful football statistics in the app, but at the same time I wanted to keep it extremely simple. I still cannot believe that I did it and now Bullet is among the most famous football predictions app in the world.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

I have never been a betting addicted, but I have always been used to going out with my friends and, just to have some fun, to bet some money on football matches once a week. Unfortunately I have never won and many friends of mine have had the same problem, but, differently from me, they have lost so much money. One day my best friend told me: "Aren't you tired of losing so much money? You are very good in mathematics. Have you ever thought to apply it to guess football results?". I think that was the beginning of the project since I decided to employ my knowledge of statistics at the service of people.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

Before writing the code of Bullet I explored the two big universes of Google Play and Apple Store to look for football prediction apps, but I found hundreds of apps and I felt so discouraged to start the development. However I did not give up and, after downloading many of them, I realized they were completely no user-friendly and mostly you had to pay to get even a basic service. In my opinion, predicting football matches is something extremely difficult due to the influence of external factors that are almost impossible to take into account. For this reason I believe that it is totally unfair to ask money for football results, but it is much better to give free trustful advice to people who want to win some money. In such a scenario, Bullet Bet Predictions not only offers a very easy and friendly user interface, but mainly provides very accurate statistics about many football events based on Machine Learning techniques. Nobody can forecast the final results of matches, but my app suggests the best betting choice based on mathematical analysis and, first of all, it is completely free. Just look at the probabilities shown in my app and take your decision. It is so simple!

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

I have released important updates for Bullet. Now it provides a very large set of predictions (much wider than the first release), including number of goals, even/odd and exact result and it is available in English, Arabic, French, German, Hindi, Hungarian, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish and Turkish for both Android and iOS. I am always working to further improve the app, but at the moment I am also concentrating on my Telegram channel in which I provide many winning bets every day, thanks to my prediction algorithm completely for free.
