bookMe - Interview with the developer of a fantastic app

Did you have any prior development or coding experience?

Yes, I’m a software engineering student and mobile apps developer for both Android and iOS.

What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?

Maybe building the real-time part of the app was the biggest challenge for me. And also obtaining user's permissions, as it’s a social project and social features need some permissions.

Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.

All 'Facebook' apps, and especially 'Instagram': because of the high level of UX.

How long have you been working on this app?

From the idea to the release - one year.

What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?

You’ve already read a lot of books, some of them marked your life at a certain point while others are stored somewhere on dusty shelves along with other things you don’t think you’ll use again. You don’t have to pile up anymore! You can save space, and your books! 'bookMe' allows you to find people with the same literary taste as yours and exchange books with them. It also displays other titles available for sale/donation and gives you the ability to put your own for exchange/sale/donation too.

In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.

We have some projects close to 'bookMe' on the market, but they don't really have a social feature. Our biggest accomplishment are the social features of this project.

What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?

Now we are working on the iOS version, as we already have a web and Android app. After that, we will add more features for writers, bookstores, and event organizers.
