Primarily in databases, but we’ve been working on BodBot for so long we’ve migrated from predominantly web-based programming to the development of our mobile apps.
The training algorithms by far. Beyond the logistical constraints (combinations of equipment, schedule, ability, preferences, etc.), the algorithms work across multiple domains - not simply muscles, but movement patterns, joints, periodization schemes and more. Together with adaptation to user biometrics (sleep, activity levels, heart rate - in different contexts) it has been and will continue to be quite an undertaking.

Pandora - at the time that pandora came out, the level of personalization and suggestion that pandora was providing was unprecedented (I particularly loved the explanations pandora would provide behind how a song was picked). Also pretty much every connect-4, checkers or go app I’ve found - the AIs on max difficulties always show a level of extreme sophistication in some optimizations, but are easily beatable once the logic is understood. I think they’re instructive for thinking about programming and avoiding naive optimizations. Or maybe I just like winning.
It’s as simple as personal fitness. For some users this is fat loss, for others, it is strength and muscle building. For many, it’s simply saving them time in finding and executing a great training plan. We’re proud to have been a part of many hundred-plus pound weight loss stories, physical transformations, athletic accomplishments, and improvements in health and wellbeing.
The vast majority of fitness apps are cookie-cutter solutions with little regard to user ability or situation. Right now we are working full-out to support our users working out from home. We’ve already added a ton of new no-equipment exercises at home, as well as HIIT home cardio, and we’re in the process of adding audio cues (which our users have requested). Beyond that, we have an ambitious roadmap based on our users’ requests during Covid-19 and are working just as hard as we can to get these out.
